About Us
Last year, we provided over 100,000 services to more than 18,000 unduplicated individuals in our communities.
There are over 39,000 individuals in Lancaster and Saunders Counties living in poverty. For a family of four, this translates to an annual income below $30,000. At Community Action, we create solutions to eliminate poverty. We offer programs to ensure that everyone, regardless of their economic situation, has the opportunity to thrive.
Community Action creates opportunities for success in its four impact areas: Early Childhood Education; Homelessness Prevention; Financial and Family Well-Being; and Hunger Relief and Healthy Food Access.
Though the dual-generation approach of our early childhood initiatives, children and their caregivers receive the support and resources they need to succeed. Our Homelessness Prevention programs support participants through some of the most tumultuous, uncertain times of their lives. Programs eliminate the causes and conditions of homelessness through the provision of targeted housing assistance, education, and individualized support. To ensure those we serve have the knowledge and resources needed to reach long-term economic stability, our Financial and Family Well-Being programs encourage participants to invest in their own futures while receiving supportive guidance from our expert team. Finally, our Hunger Relief and Healthy Food Access programs ensure no one goes without healthy, nutritious meals – our most basic human need.
Community Action is about empowerment: empowering our participants, empowering each other, and empowering our community to be the best it can be. We believe that by working together with our community, we can – and will – eliminate poverty.
